LMHC-D, CCTP-II, EMDR-C
I created Calm Waters Mental Health Counseling to offer adults a supportive and grounded space to heal from trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship concerns, and adoption related experiences. My practice began in 2018 with a clear mission. I wanted to help people understand the roots of their emotions and navigate the struggles that often feel too heavy to carry alone. Therapy is a place where you can slow down, breathe, and finally feel seen. My goal is to make sure you never feel rushed, judged, or unheard.
Healing takes time, and each person comes with a unique story. I meet you where you are and help you build clarity in a way that feels safe and manageable. Whether you are dealing with stress from daily life or long standing emotional pain, you deserve a calm space where healing is possible.
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Trauma / PTSD

- Relationship Issues
- Adoptee competent therapy for adoptees, birth parents, and adoptive parents
In therapy we explore the patterns, experiences, and emotions that are shaping your current life. Together we identify what is causing distress and develop skills that help you create healthier ways of coping and relating.
I use a combination of evidence based treatments, including:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- EMDR therapy
- Trauma-Focused Talk Therapy
- Compassion focused therapy
- Adoption Competent Therapy
These methods help you process painful experiences, regulate emotions, and build long term resilience. I adapt the work to your pace and comfort level so you feel safe and in control of your healing process.
My personal experience, combined with professional training, allows me to support clients who are facing:
- Coming out of the fog
- Search and reunion
- Late discovery adoption
- Emotional overwhelm during reunion
- Boundary setting in new relationships
- Grief related to estrangement or secondary rejection
Adoption experiences often involve layers that are difficult to explain to others. In therapy you have a place where these feelings are understood and honored without judgment.
I have experienced EMDR personally, which gives me unique insight into how powerful and transformative this work can be. My goal is to create a calming, therapeutic environment where you feel supported throughout the entire process.
When you work with me, you can expect a steady, compassionate presence and a therapist who listens carefully and takes your experiences seriously.
